    Hello Marty!

Thank you for the update on you and your beautiful family. I am sorry to hear about your Father, that's a hard one no matter what. It is good you will be able to stay close to your Mum. My heart goes out to you and your family - you are getting prayers of comfort and peace from Chicago.

It is good to hear that you are enjoying your retirement while staying close to your family. I know you are counting it all as joy and blessings. I am happy for you, Marty. You are a kind and generous person - it is good to know you are so happy and proud.

Thank you so much for helping out at Freedom - we could never keep her going without the help of so many wonderful people. I may come back in a do a few duties for awhile. I was out there for a few years working from my home - the balancing act of running a business and keeping the homefront in line didn't go so smoothly. So it looks like I'll be retiring the next few weeks as well. You may see me a bit more!

It is a pleasure and joy to be in touch.

    God Bless You!

    Joanne

    Hello Marty,

It is so nice to hear from you. I do love the new site - losing the MSN forum looks like more of a blessing rather than a loss. Thank you for assisting with the parade recovery. You always were good at that parade stuff. :O) My family is doing well, the boys are growing like weeds and making gray hairs do the same. Ha! We've had quite a winter in Chicago and I see you were able to experience the "winter blast" as well. : ) How are you and how is your family?

It's fun to be back, Joanne. I'm retired now (as I think you already knew) and John asked if I could help out. Well, I have some sparef time, and I can think of little better to do with it.

Sadly, my Dad passed away last month at the age of 95. I continue to be surprised at how much I miss him. He was a larger-than-life character with a studied eccentricity, and I am very much like him. He suffered a stroke in 2001 and since then I sort of became responsible for him and my Mum (who continues to thrive). We persuaded them in 2001 to move near to me, and I saw them just about every day, so we became close again. My mother has taken his death very stoically, and of course now my responsibility shifts to her.

The other end of the family are wonderful. Two married daughters, one ganddaughter and three grandsons, all living within two miles of us - we see them all a lot image Babysitting has become my other specialty, and I love it.

I've also taken up cooking, and even my wife doesn't mind eating my food image Actually I'm in danger of getting quite good at it. Unfortunately that's not the case with my golf, which nevertheless I'm playing a lot and enjoying a lot.

All in all, I'm loving my retirement. I just wish I'd done it 40 years ago.
